Lane is best known for hosting several major heavyweight boxing championship matches in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and for participating in the General Court Judge Mills Lane program. On June 9, 2013, Lane was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the Nevada Boxing Fame Hall on August 10 of the same year.
